Recycling

The City’s Recycling Center is located at 205 2nd St NE and is open for all City and County residents to use for recycling. Acceptable items include the following:

Acceptable Items

  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Glass Bottles
  • Glass Jars
  • Newspaper
  • Office Paper
  • Plastic Bottles
  • Tin/aluminum Cans
  • Used Motor Oil (Contact for access to tank)

Non-Acceptable Items

  • Food/drink Boxes
  • High-Gloss Paper (Magazines, Catalogs, etc.)
  • Wrapping Paper

Please follow the on-site signage for proper locations and details. Misuse of the recycling center drop-off site could result in a $500 fine and will result in contaminated loads that must be hauled to the landfill, instead of being recycled.

Curbside Recycling

City residents can also place acceptable recyclable items out for curbside pickup. Residential curbside collection occurs every other week. On days your garbage is scheduled to be picked up that are marked with an “R” in the City Calendar, put your recyclables out in the same place your garbage is picked up. Curbside recycling pickup is included in the charge for residential accounts only, commercial accounts do no receive curbside recycling services. Recycling containers are available by calling the Sanitation Department at 701.662.7624 or City Offices at 701.662.7600 Ex 1.
