City Garden in Devils Lake, North Dakota
The City of Devils Lake has community garden spots available to City residents who may not have room for a garden at home. Sign up for the 146 available garden spots takes place in the spring of each year. Each garden plot is roughly 25’ x 30’ in size and are individually numbered with signs adjacent to each garden so they are easily identified. Each garden spot has access to its own hose bib for garden hoses. Each spring, the City completes the initial tilling of the gardens prior to planting season.
Each gardener pays a $30 deposit per year and signs a contract stating they will keep their garden clean all season and dispose of garden waste in the fall. The city provides a roll-off container on site for convenience in disposal. Those who keep their garden clean will receive their deposit back at the end of the season. Those who fail to follow the requirements to keep the garden clean will forfeit their deposit and a chance to have another garden in the future.
If you would like more information on the garden program, please call City Offices at 662-7600, Ex 2 or email Helen at helenc@dvlnd.com.
