Duties
The City Sanitation Department consists of nine sanitation workers running two sanitation trucks and one transfer truck five days a week to provide high-quality solid waste collection and disposal services to the residents of Devils Lake in a timely and effective manner. The Sanitation Department is responsible for the following:
Compost and Yard Waste
Dumpster and Roll-Off Services
Inert Landfill
Recycling
Residential/Commercial Garbage
Special Pickup
Garbage & Recycling
Garbage and recycling curbside pickup is completed Monday – Friday with five collection zones throughout the city. To determine your weekly collection day, review the Garbage/Recycling Schedule. To ensure your garbage and recycling is picked up on your designated day, please have your receptacles out by 7 AM on the appropriate day.

What: The City of Devils Lake Sanitation Department will be hosting a public input meeting regarding the ‘Dual Side Load Automated Refuse Truck’ RFP and the City's plans to submit a Community Facilities application to USDA - Rural Development. The application being considered would request up to $670,000 for equipment and materials required to complete automated residential garbage collection. This public input meeting is being held to obtain views and answer questions related to project economic and environment impacts, service area and alternatives to the projects.
