Inert Landfill
The City of Devils Lake owns and operates an inert landfill, located five miles north of Devils Lake on ND Hwy 20 and one and a half miles west on 54th St NE. The inert landfill is open by appointment Monday through Friday, at 9 AM or 1 PM, throughout the year. To schedule an appointment, contact the Sanitation Department at 701.662.7624 or City Offices at 701.662.7600 Ex 1. During the summer months, the landfill is also open the second Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 1 PM. The week prior to spring and fall special pickup starting, landfill dumping is free to City residents by appointment, Monday through Friday, at 9 AM or 1 PM.
Inert Landfill Acceptable Items
- Non-household garbage
- Furniture, carpet, mattresses, toys, dried/empty paint cans
- Appliances (additional charge for freon)
- Tires (extra charge)
- Trees, branches, leaves, grass
- Construction debris – wood, tile, tubs, sinks, windows, doors, shingles, siding
Inert Landfill Non-Acceptable Items
- Household garbage
- Items containing asbestos
- Liquids of any kind
- Batteries
- Microwaves, televisions, computer monitors, laptop computers, tablets (dispose of these items in your regular garbage)
