Special Assessments Commission
The City Administrator in conjunction with the City Engineer determines how special assessment projects will be assessed amongst the property owners within the special assessment district. Special assessments are generally based on lot size, project adjacent frontage or side yard, property location, utility service/connection or any other information pertinent to the improvement. Assessments are confirmed by the City Commission in October of each year.
The Special Assessment Commission meets yearly to review and discuss the special assessments that are to be assessed to commercial and residential properties within city limits. The Commission has the power and authority to adjust and determine not only the benefits of an assessed project but the amount of the assessment each property owner should be required to pay. Meeting minutes are available at City Offices.
